There is a pretty good DM guide that I went to shirne couple of times to be sure I was being thorough. Now I understand the annoyance that lightning bolt and fireball hidde GMs, but using these spells in a tightly constrained dungeon is still enough of a challenge, and any module for PC’s over 5th level has to take them into account with more than a global ban.
Monsters also have some neat mechanics – vampires that materialize over time and giant crabs with smart tactics which give a good idea of how to make the fights interesting.

Gus L March 22, at 9: Gus L July 22, at For those DMs who have trouble designing their own dungeons, I say buy it. Hidden Shrine suffers from this, as the dungeon is eminently explorable but creates incentives not to explore or interact and instead to push through as hard as possible.
Surviving examples of this version are quite rare and are highly prized by collectors. Overrall this Module was not a bad experience, but I don’t recommend saving in places that leaves you permanently stuck.
It’s a real puzzle dungeon, full of traps and set piece rooms. That’s a value that later modules including up to the present sorely lack and are the worse for.
