Invaluable for the mricea it offers into Eliade’s life and thought, it is a work of great intellectual and emotional power.
He clearly has a couple of agendas. I had discovered an India quite different to the one I had read about in nibhts newspaper articles I am currently reading the ‘reply’ – a book written decades later by Eliade’s lover, then a 16 year old girl.

I just kind of hated everything about this story. In what concerns the ending of the book, I have quite an unpopular opinion – as far as I know, a lot of people disliked that ending, but I found it really interesting and like it should have been. It is one of the rare instances in literature when two protagonists share the same story broken down in the same beautiful moments but seen from two different perspectives.
